School Daze

It must be said that the Spike Lee film, where I just happened to "borrow" the title of this post, may not be one of his greatest hits, but apparently this film by Mr. Lee is really creating a serious buzz. Just might go and catch it.

Right then, so lets get back to the point of this post which is about school, and in particular, my place in it. You see, when you decide to head back to school at a certain age (something that I've already done I might add, graduating from culinary school a few years back), well, at any age, especially after being away from it for awhile, and you're the one paying for it, not your parents or if you're lucky, work, AND, you throw in "life" experiences on top of this new education, you think you know. You really think you have it figured out. Turns out, you don't. At all. It's still very much a learning process, and personally, I couldn't be happier about that. I love the fact that learning never ends, and there is just so much out there to learn. I sound like someone whose eyes are now just opening to that fact. The truth is, I've been very aware of this, but it's great to have the time to actually (re)discover it. I'm lucky/blessed that way. Most people do not have the chance to do that, so trust me when I say that I take full advantage of this opportunity in every way possible. I appreciate the people, be it instructors, professors, professionals, my classmates, friends and family, who are helping me along the way. Do I sound like a big, grateful nerd? Good. The whole point of this blog was to take notes and record the fact that yes, I'm still learning. Oh, and I tweeted for the first time today - yeah, I'm shocked too. It seems to be a trend with me eh? Showing up late to the party, whether starting a blog, or talking about Mad Men or joining twitter. Ah well, it's all part of the learning process (don't you just love how I got right back to the point of the post??).
