Vietnam: it’s complicated

The true reason why I chose to visit Viet Nam wasn't for complicated reasons really - despite the post headline. For years I was fascinated by the country's history, its people and in particular, the food. To me, travelling to Vietnam wasn't going to be a typical tourist destination. Its war-torn history has shaped its culture almost as much as the landscape, the people and the cuisine and I wanted to learn more. It wasn't until I arrived in the county that it truly became exciting, amazing, and yes, complicated.
